Dr. Alison Ross is a highly respected psychologist specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Her expertise includes treating people suffering from symptoms of depression, anxiety and grief. Her areas of specialty range from treating people undergoing relationship issues, having difficulties managing stress, to those who are struggling to find a good work-life balance. Dr Ross has a deep commitment treating women affected by medical issues such as infertility, postpartum depression, and breast cancer. Her expertise also extends to treating individuals with creative talents such as actors and painters. Dr. Ross takes a collaborative approach to therapy, ensuring that individuals receive compassionate and tailored care.
Her academic journey reflects her dedication to the field of psychology. She received her Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in Psychology and Human Biology from Stanford University, followed by a Master’s in Public Health from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University School of Medicine. She continued her education by getting a PhD in Psychology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. After getting her PHD, she obtained additional postdoctoral training at New York University’s Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
Dr. Ross has made many contributions in psychology and mental health through her clinical work, writings and presentations. She is currently working on a book, having been awarded a Scholar’s Grant in 2025 from The Psychoanalytic Society in New York City. The book she is writing for the lay public aims to shed light on critical aspects of mental health, offering insights derived from years of practice and academic study.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Ross enjoys spending time at her home on Eastern Long Island, where she finds inspiration and balance. Looking ahead, she remains dedicated to advancing mental health awareness and continuing her impactful work in psychotherapy.
