J.D. degree in 1966. Previously, Mr. Hart attended Johns Hopkins
University, where he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.
To further enhance his professional development, Mr. Hart is a member of legal
organizations that include the National Association of Criminal Defense
Lawyers; the National Legal Aid and Defender Association; the American
Judicature Society; American Inns of Court IV, Hawaii (Master of the Bench);
the Hawaii State Bar Association; the Hawaii Association of Criminal Defense

In recognition of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Hart is a Fellow of
both the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and the American College of Trial
Lawyers. Since 1983, he has been listed in every edition of the national
publication "Best Lawyers in America," and since 1993, he has been
listed in every edition of Honolulu Magazine’s feature “Hawaii's A+
Attorneys.” In 1972, Mr. Hart received the Reginald Heber Smith Award,
when he was named Outstanding Public Defender in the Nation by the National
Legal Aid and Defender Association. In 2018, he was designated a Diamond
Jubilee Defender by the Foundation of the Defense Bar for Criminal Justice
(National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers).
