Wimauma, FL — Daniel J. Gifford is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who for his professional excellence in the field of law and for his contributions as a Professor of Law.
Mr. Gifford received an A.B. degree cum laude from Holy Cross College and an LL.B. degree cum laude from Harvard. At Harvard, he was Case Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Later, he was a Ford Fellow at Columbia University where he received an S.J.D. Mr. Gifford has been admitted to the bars of New York and Minnesota. He was also admitted to the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, the Second and Seventh Federal Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
Early in his career, Mr. Gifford practiced law with the New York firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. He served on the law faculties of Vanderbilt University, and of the State University of New York before joining the University of Minnesota, where he was the Robins, Kaplan Professor of Law. In his academic career he has served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan and at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a Visiting fellow at the University of Warwick in England. He has also taught at the Free University of Brussels, the University of Lyons and Uppsala University.
Mr. Gifford is a member of the American Law Institute and has served on its Consultative Group on Unfair Competition. He has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is the author (with Robert Kudrle) of “The Atlantic Divide in Antitrust: a Comparison of US and EU Competition Policy” (U. Chicago Press 1915), several casebooks on antitrust and administrative law and many book chapters and law journal articles.
