Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to
comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a
family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person
a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat
patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with severe ailments
to a specialist or appropriate facility.
The team at Amen Clinics specializes in an innovative
brain-body approach to diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide array of
emotional, behavioral, learning, cognitive, and autoimmune diseases for children,
teenagers, and adults.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Cornish completed
her undergraduate education with honors at Brown University and graduated with
her medical degree (M.D.) from Brown University Medical School. She then
completed her residency in family medicine at Georgetown University.
In 2003, as a Howard Hughes Medical Fellow, Dr. Cornish
conducted translational research at the National Human Genome Research
Institute NIH. She was an apprentice in the laboratory of Francis Collins, M.D,
Ph.D., the current Director of NIH and the Human Genome Project leader. Under
his leadership, she analyzed genetic associations of chronic illnesses.
Professionally, Dr. Cornish currently serves as a board
member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. She is a
proud member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and the
Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).
