Florence Denmark, Ph.D.
FLORENCE DENMARK, PH.D. - SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGIST / RESEARCH PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
New York, NY – Florence Denmark, Ph.D. is being recognized
by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever for her work with Pace
University.
Pace University is a private educational institution located
in New York City, accepting students from around the globe, functioning under
the principle that opportunity is of the greatest importance.
Dr. Florence Denmark, a psychologist with over four decades of experience in
her field, studies and teaches Social Psychology and observes the history of
the feminine role in psychology. In the 14 years she’s spent in her position,
she has researched the mistreatment and discrimination of women in her field,
citing that she has always been interested in why people do the things that
they do. Dr. Denmark advises to find mentors to those seeking to enter her
profession.
In her attendance at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Denmark earned her
Master of Arts in psychology, then her Ph.D. in social psychology, graduating
in 1958.
Dr. Denmark was once the President of the APA, also known as
the American Psychological Association.
In honor of her outstanding work, Dr. Denmark has received several awards
throughout her career, including the Distinguished Leader Award from the
Committee on Women in Psychology of the American Psychological Association, as
well as the Outstanding Leadership and Distinguished Career awards from the
American Psychological Association.
In her free time, Dr. Denmark appreciates the performance arts such as theatre
and the opera, or watching her favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
She also dedicates her time volunteering at the United Nations.
Dr. Denmark dedicates this recognition in loving memory of her late husband,
Robert Wesner, her son, Richard Denmark, and her mentors, Virginia Sexton, Mary
Reuder, and Robert Petraturne.
