Dr Jimena began his medical education journey at the Universidad de Caldas in Columbia where he earned a Medical Doctor degree. She then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Rita Arango Alvarez del Pino Medical Center (Universidad de Caldas) and a residency in OB-GYN at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center when she relocated to the United States. 

A board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Rivas is in private practice and focuses on a variety of gynecological and obstetric issues. Among the many services she offers, she does procedures including post-menopausal treatment, sexual dysfunction, contraception, including IUD placement, and pre cancer biopsies. 

Dedicated to staying abreast of the latest advancements in her field, the doctor is associated with many professional groups including the Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Ultrasound Institute of Medicine. Dr. Rivas is fluent in Spanish and works closely with this community, providing a community lecture series with Hunterdon Medical Center on women’s health for the Spanish speaking population every year.
