
Del Mar, CA- Lee Richard Katzman, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine as an Ophthalmologist at NVISION.
Backed by eight years of professional accomplishments, Dr. Katzman is one of the top ophthalmologists in San Diego County. Fellowship-trained and board-certified, his areas of expertise include LASIK, PRK, cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, corneal transplants, and refractive surgery. He performs LASIK surgery at the NVISION center in La Jolla, cataract and other corneal surgeries at the Outpatient Surgery of Del Mar where he serves as the medical director, and additional procedures at the Outpatient Plaza surgery center at SHARP Grossmont Hospital. Additionally, he serves as a partner at Alvarado Eye in La Mesa and Coronado, seeing patients at the clinic for routine and preoperative evaluations.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Katzman earned a neuroscience degree from the University of Miami and a Doctorate of Medicine from the Chicago Medical School. For post education, he worked at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as an ophthalmology resident and USC Roski Eye Institute in Los Angeles as a fellow in cornea/external disease. He has earned numerous laser certifications, including AMO Visx STAR S4 Excimer Laser, AMO Intralase, LENSAR Femtosecond Laser, B&L Victus, Alcon LENSX, and Alcon Wavelight Allegretto. He was the first in San Diego to perform several procedures, including the Raindrop corneal inlay and the Alcon Panoptix intraocular lens implant.
A sought after speaker, Dr. Katzman has presented research at regional and national conferences. On top of these accomplishments, he was involved in FDA trials for corneal collagen cross-linking prior to its approval. The recipient of numerous awards, he was most recently honored as a San Diego Top Doctor in 2018 and 2019, and a Top Ophthalmologist in the 2019/2020 edition of The Leading Physicians of the World.
Outside of work, Dr. Katzman enjoys traveling, hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with his wife and two dogs.
