With decades of experience to his credit, Mr Shookman has excelled for many years as an environmental health science specialist and a certified industrial hygienist with Hydro-Gear. Headquartered in Sullivan, IL, and operating four manufacturing facilities and offices around the globe, Hydro-Gear is the driving force inside the most trusted machines on the planet. The company is the world’s leading manufacturer of drivetrain solutions such as hydrostatic drives, transaxles, and fully electric drive systems.

Throughout his career, Mr. Shookman has found success working for an engineering consulting firm in Mattoon, IL, as well as a consulting business owner in Lafayette, IN. He was a safety engineer for Liberty Mutual Group, a civil engineer and soil engineer for Soils Engineering Service, and a teacher on environment, safety, and OSHA-training for multiple companies in St. Louis, MO.

Involved in a turnkey construction project for Holcim Company, in partnership with Washington Group International and Alberici Constructors, Mr. Shookman advanced from a safety engineer to a regional industrial hygienist with the Argonaut Insurance Company. Likewise, Mr. Shookman previously served as an industrial hygienist for British Petroleum in Alaska, Shell PLC in Los Angeles, the Amoco Corporation in Chicago, and International Comfort Products.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Shookman pursued an education at Southern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology (Civil) in 1972. After completing graduate coursework in business and engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, he obtained a Master’s degree in industrial hygiene at the University of Central Missouri. He was additionally certified as a safety professional at the American Society of Safety Professionals.

To stay informed about developments in his field, Mr. Shookman is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.
