New York, NY — Mark E. Robson, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Top Pinnacle Physician for his excellence in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
A board-certified cancer specialist with more than 30 years of experience in his field, Dr. Mark Robson specializes in identifying people at high risk of cancer development due to genetic factors and helping to manage their cases.
"I concentrate on helping men and women with cancer incorporate genetic information into their treatment plan," Dr. Robson says. "For those at increased risk but who have not been diagnosed, I work to develop a plan that will help them either prevent the development of cancer or limit its impact if it occurs. So, my research focus has been on identifying the best ways to use germline (inherited) genetic information to improve the outcomes of those with or at risk for hereditary cancers of all types."
Dr. Robson's clinical genetics work is highly focused on managing young women with breast cancer, particularly those with hereditary predispositions. As a medical oncologist, he has been very involved in developing new treatments for hereditary breast cancer, such as PARP inhibitors.
In pursuit of his higher education, Dr. Robson obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Washington and Lee University. He went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia and completed his medical residency and fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He maintains active affiliations with the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the European Society of Medical Oncology, among his professional memberships.
Away from his work, Dr. Robson enjoys
spending his free time with his wife, Piera, and their children, Giovanna and
Alessandra. He wishes to dedicate this honorable recognition to his mentors,
Dr. Louis Diehl and Frank Ward.
