Mr. Matt Toresco is a leading executive in patient advocacy and engagement and serves as Founder, CEO, and Chief Patient Officer of Archo, and Editor-in-Chief of Archo’s syndicated market research report, ELAVAY: Advocacy Intelligence and Chief Executive Officer of Archo Advocacy in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Since 2022 he has partnered with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to embed the patient perspective into decision-making. His visibility in the field includes a TED Talk on the power of patient advocacy that surpassed one million views within six months, underscoring his commitment to elevating patient voices on a global stage.

At Archo Advocacy, Mr. Toresco focuses on activating market research and guiding organizations on effective and ethical patient engagement. He leverages research insights to elevate patient stories and deepen understanding of the daily challenges people face as they navigate care. Since 2018, he has also advised nonprofit healthcare organizations on patient support strategies amid growing demand and constrained resources.

Mr. Toresco previously spent seven years with The Brooks Group, Inc., rising through several leadership roles that combined commercial strategy with learning and development and patient advocacy. From 2021 to 2023, he served as partner, chief commercial officer, and chief patient officer; from 2020 to 2021, he was partner and executive vice president of learning and development and patient advocacy, having first held the executive vice president role earlier in 2020. Between 2016 and 2020, he was vice president of account management and business processes training. During his tenure, he launched market research that advanced the importance of patient voices within healthcare systems.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Toresco built a strong foundation across the life sciences sector. He served as a national field sales trainer at Counsyl from 2014 to 2016 after working there as a clinical account executive from 2011 to 2014. He was a territory manager at Genzyme Genetics from 2010 to 2011, a neuroscience primary care sales representative at Eli Lilly and Company from 2008 to 2010, and an associate market analyst for competitive intelligence at ImClone Systems, a subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company, from 2007 to 2008.

Mr. Toresco earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from The Ohio State University in 2007. He further strengthened his leadership capabilities with certifications in The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team Powered by Wiley and as an Everything DiSC Certified Partner, both earned in 2020.

His professional affiliations include membership in the Life Sciences Trainers & Educators Network since 2016. He serves as a public board member for the Patient Advocate Certification Board Inc. (since 2023) and as a board member for A Life in a Day (since 2022). In 2026, he co-founded We The Patients and joined the board of PlusInc. He served on the executive board of The HEART First Foundation from 2024 to 2026 and on the executive board of the SYNGAP1 Foundation from 2022 to 2024. His community service includes volunteering with the Flemington Children's Shelter and coaching with Toms River Youth Lacrosse.

Mr. Toresco’s honors include recognition as a Global Public Speaker of Distinction by Cover Entrepreneur in 2025, the Counsyl Above and Beyond Award in 2015, and the Counsyl Vital Award in 2014. He is the author of Unseen: One Man's Fight Through Pain, Silence, and the System and the host of the podcast Building the Noise with Matt Toresco, launched in 2022. Since 2025, he has also served as founder and chief storyteller at Matt Toresco, LLC in Mount Pleasant South Carolina.

Personal experience informs Mr. Toresco’s philosophy. After breaking his neck while playing lacrosse in 2005 and enduring years of chronic pain during which his concerns were dismissed, he resolved to champion the patient voice and lived experience so that others would not navigate the healthcare system alone. He values family life with his wife, Amy, whom he married in August 2010, and their children, Maddy and Lilly. He remains active with youth sports and stays involved at Amy’s dance and theater studio, Stage Door Arts Academy, founded in January 2026.
