With over 15 years of experience in her field, Dr. Ortiz concentrates on quality assurance and regulatory affairs in the medical devices and pharmaceutical industry. Specializing in regulatory compliance, information analysis, internal audit /auto-inspections, teaching/training, reporting research results, problem solving, process improvement, employee development as well as people management (coaching and mentoring), and presentations, Dr. Ortiz flawlessly executes project plans, approvals, monitoring and completion phases within challenging deadline and budget parameters. Performing investigations related to cGMP events, Dr. Ortiz has a proven track record of successful implementation of quality management and compliance systems by mediation, negotiation and adaptability skills, among others. Maintaining and sustaining the overall commercial quality management systems (QMS), Dr. Ortiz leads management reviews meetings to validate the effectiveness or need of improvements of quality systems. Valuating and preparing action plans for the findings of the periodic review of processes performance, products quality and the quality management system while recommending specific courses of action to remediate gaps, Dr. Ortiz achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget and objectives, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances with lab tests, and initiating immediate corrective actions. Fluent in Spanish and English, Dr. Ortiz is more than comfortable in her bilingual expertise.
Throughout her education and training, Dr. Ortiz received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) from NOVA Southeastern University - College of Pharmacy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2011 and her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) from University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus - School of Pharmacy in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2002.
To further her professional development, Dr. Ortiz was a Member of Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Puerto Rico Board (2009 – 2013) and Distribution Area Representative at Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Puerto Rico Board (2009 – 2013). Additionally, Dr. Ortiz was a member of the American Society for Quality. Giving back to her community, Dr. Ortiz participates in the Alcon Community Day annually (since 2012) in Puerto Rico and Mexico, volunteers as a pharmacist at G.A.N.A.R. Summer Camp (Camp for kids and adolescents with rheumatoid conditions in Puerto Rico), and supports the Medical Journey at Guerrero, Mexico (Volunteering with poor blind people from Guerrero, Mexico).
In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Ortiz received in 2019 the Alcon LACAR Excellence Award of Q4 2018: Drive Execution Excellence for Mexico and Central America and Caribbean.
In her free time, Dr. Ortiz likes to make manual crafts like girl’s bows and bead bracelets, read biographies and self-improvement books, travel to different countries, watch movies and TV series related to politics and legal topics, collect shots from visited countries, do some gardening, and wash dishes.
