Middletown, RI ‒ Ralph A. Mastrorio is being recognized by
Continental Who's Who as a Trusted Professor for his excellent work in the
Teaching field and in acknowledgment of his work as a Professor at Salve Regina
University and Anna Maria College.
Teaching has been Mr. Mastrorio's passion for over 55 years.
He is proud to have taught hundreds of students at both high school and college
levels, and finds teaching to be a very fulfilling profession. For over 30
years, he taught Biology and Bioethics in two high school districts, Wachusett
Regional, and Shrewsbury. Mr. Mastrorio was the founder of the Bioethics
program. He loved teaching his students the ethical considerations behind moral
issues in medical care and biology. He also created a formalized sex education
course for middle school age kids in the Shrewsbury school district. At the
time, Mr. Mastrorio was the first teacher in central Massachusetts to develop a
formalized sex education program for his students, and he ranks this among his
most important academic achievements.
It was his pride and joy to teach students for so many years, and after three
decades of teaching high school, he retired. He soon found a new role as an
Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Anna Maria College, where
he still teaches today.
He later joined Salve Regina University in Newport, RI, where he has been
teaching the Circle of Scholars Program for seven years. This innovative
program offers seminars on a range of educational topics, ranging from history
to science to music and the arts. Salve Regina has been a respected school
since its founding in 1934, and currently has about 2,700 undergraduate and
graduate students pursuing degrees at the school. As an excellent school in the
Newport area, Salve Regina has been awarded among the region's top 20 best
undergraduate schools.
Although he is now 77 years old, Mr. Mastrorio is still dedicated to teaching
the next generation. Some of his courses have explored fascinating topics, such
as his 2018 Circle of Scholars course "Frankenstein Revisited: The History
of Transplantation Technology."
To achieve his education, Ralph A. Mastrorio first attended Worcester State
University in Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Biology. During his second semester of school, he was drafted into the United
States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Mastrorio had taken on a job as a high
school teacher, and the district superintendent personally wrote a letter
requesting Mr. Mastrorio's deferment, so that he could continue teaching his
students in Holden, MA.
Continuing his education, Mr. Mastrorio next attended Anna Maria College in
Paxton, MA, where he graduated with a Master of Education degree and a Master
of Arts degree. Mr. Mastrorio then took Medical Biology courses at Clark
University in Worcester, MA.
Mr. Mastrorio has recently been recognized for his professional excellence by
Marquis Who's Who, Jirnal, 24-7 Press Release, Daily 2 Daily News, and others.
Mr. Mastrorio was also recently interviewed by Newport RI, a local news outlet,
as he was waiting to receive a COVID-19 vaccine along with many others in the
Middletown community. He expressed happiness that the COVID-19 vaccine was
available and located near both Middletown and Newport.
